Hi my name is Natalie Thurgood and I’m the owner and founder of natural transformation.

Yes I’m a Kinesiologist, Sports Kinesiologist, Remedial Massage Therapist, Corrective Exercise Specialist and Personal Trainer.

As a youngster I played a wide variety of sports for school and for fun. I was extremely lucky to have the country style upbringing on the outskirts of North West Sydney. So we were constantly outside playing local club sport or games with my siblings or neighbors in the area. As the whole family was involved with the local rugby league club and I couldn't play, I ended up becoming a rugby league referee. It was like being in a team, we had training to attend too and plus I got paid for it. Which lead too refereeing the little kids at half time in big NRL games.

One of the sports I played at school was soccer and from this I was selected in the New South Wales and Australian teams in indoor soccer. With being in this elite level I started to include my own gym (weight training) sessions into my training at around 16 years old. I did two tours overseas with the Australian team U/18’s, U21’s and this to me was an amazing experience to have as a young adult.

I became a gym instructor, a group exercise to music instructor (aerobics, pump, boxing etc.) and a personal trainer at the end of 2003 completing a year of study at Meadowbank Tafe. Lucky for me I got an opportunity two weeks after finishing, to start running my own business at Mosman Fitness First. I had an amazing PT Coordinator who introduces me to an alternative style of training by Paul Chek.

After a couple of years of being a personal trainer and running my own business, I could see where my interests lie. I had a passion for fixing injuries and understanding how to fix them. So in my pursuit of finding a course, I came across this Sports Kinesiology course at the College of Complementary Medicine written by Carl Montgomery. In April 2008, I graduated from this intense and wonderful course with honors. (Academic and Clinical Excellence) and gained a Diploma in Sports Kinesiology.

The corrective exercise is a subject that we are taught and you put that with a personal trainer then you get a corrective exercise specialist.

I learnt basic massage techniques is my kinesiology course and throughout the years I have learnt many other massage techniques through wonderful mentors. So I decided that I was going to take myself back to school and study my Diploma in Remedial Massage. I completed this in 2017 at the Australia Institute of Fitness.

I have a massive passion for what I do and absolutely get a kick out of helping people achieve their goals. With the knowledge that I have gained over the years on actually how the body works. I have noticed in the industry there is a complete lack of understanding with general mechanics involved. Programs have been devised and change to assist with the fast pace of human life. With these generic systems that have been sold and applied there is a complete lack and understanding that we are all the same but we are completely different as well. Just because it works for you doesn't mean it will work for someone else.

So when I create programs. They are programs  that looks at ALL OF YOU from how YOU move, to what YOU eat, to how YOU think. If there is an imbalances in the body there has to be a reason why. Just looking and treating the symptom is never ever going to treat the cause of the problem. The best thing I learnt from my teacher…………is ask yourself WHY is the body presenting that and find your answer.

So there you have it…that is a brief history to how I got here today and a little insight to me…of course there are more courses I have done and learnt off a wide variety of people that have crossed my path. But as you can see exercise is something I have done all my life and still continuing to do today.

Have a wonderful day and remember to believe in yourself and that anything is possible.
